Hitachi,Ltd. Procurement Guidelines Policy
Ensuring Equitable Transactions
At Hitachi Information Systems, we advocate taking action based on principles of equitable and orderly competition. Furthermore, we have established Organizational Rules for Observing the Fair Trade Law and Rules Regarding the Prevention of Socially Unacceptable Dealings, and we also offer on-the-job ethics training for our employees and conduct regular internal audits of each of our work sites.

These guidelines advocate “respecting the value of both our own and outside information” and “respecting of trade-related laws.” The former concept relates to the fostering and development of patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and other intellectual property rights, to information security training intended to emphasize the importance of informational assets, and to conducting personal information handling training in keeping with our status as privacy mark certified. The latter relates to our setting of Guidelines for Safe and Secure Export Management so as to enhance our ability to control export management.
In 2005, we established a training curriculum for both new hires and employees at all levels in the company, allowing us to ensure the dissemination of knowledge about these issues. We also completely revised and improved our standard contract for our core services. In addition, we created a business contract handbook that clearly details our policies regarding the exchange of contracts and business transactions. In 2006, a training meeting for work site instructors and business managers was held to explain the new standard contract and business contract handbook, reinforcing our efforts to conduct transactions in an ethical manner.
E-Mind Partnership Program
E-Mind is a partnership program that allows us to bring cutting-edge services to the marketplace by joining forces with venture companies that have superior technologies in order to offer the best solutions to our customers.
This allows us to offer useful technologies and know-how that would otherwise remain obscure in a form that is useful to our customers' businesses.

“ Green Procurement” Guidelines
As an information services provider, Hitachi Information Systems wants to contribute to building a society that supports recycling efforts. We aim to strengthen our relationship with individual businesses so as to better meet the environmentally-friendly purchasing needs of our customers, and promote the “green” procurement of the five largest office product lines (PCs, printers, fax machines, office supplies, copy and printer paper, and office furniture.)
The cooperation of our business partners and product manufacturers has been invaluable in the promotion of green procurement efforts. In October of 1999, we issued the Green Procurement Guidelines to outline our basic thoughts with regards to green procurement and our specific environmental requests for the companies with whom we conduct business. We have since distributed these guidelines to more than 1,000 companies and continue our proactive efforts to offer environmentally friendly products.
