The Hitachi Information Systems Corporate Code of Conduct advocates a policy of “Harmony with the environment”. In order to translate this basic policy into specifics, and to show how a company can take steps to alleviate environmental problems with regard to operations in 1994 we unveiled our Environmental Conservation Action Policy. As it states in the policy, environmental conservation efforts are a pillar of a company’s duties to society. Based on our business characteristics as an IT services company, we are focusing on activities that increasingly emphasize total security. In 2005, we streamlined related regulations and enacted the Environmental CSR Manufauring Guidelines. In keeping with environmental conservation, the guidelines specify “A reduction in energy use, a reduction in the use of natural resources, recycling, and tight controls of chemical substances” as matters which should be given special attention.
Moreover, in line with these guidelines, we established a new slogan, “The Earth is an Irreplaceable Resource―It is Our Responsibility to Protect it”, further enhancing our efforts to work with all our employees to reduce our company’s environmental impact.
