The CSR report published by Hitachi Information Systems, Ltd. was created with an emphasis on comprehensibility and a selection of topics both practical and significant, so as to most clearly communicate our CSR activities to you, our readers. The information it contains was strictly selected to reflect our company's business conditions, with reference to SRI (Socially Responsible Investment) survey questions, the Japanese Ministry of the Environment's “Environmental Reporting Guidelines (2003 edition)” and to revisions to the Global Reporting Initiative's “Sustainability Reporting Guidelines.” We reduced the page count significantly, and highlighted particularly important activities as title items in the text.

The information in this report reflects social and environmental conservation activities conducted by Hitachi Information Systems, Ltd. during fiscal year 2006 (April 2006 - March 2007). A portion of supplementary information reflects activities planned for after 2007 and from prior to 2005.

Editor's Note
This is the second CSR report of Hitachi Information Systems. Due to the guidance of Mr. Yamaguchi who wrote an opinion about this report last year, we paid attention to edit the following points.
At first, this year we featured special topics focusing on the problems related to overtime working and mental health that many of IT companies have. We described these activities and achievement in detail. This was highly rated by third party NPOs.
Secondly, we reviewed the fiscal activity results and the activity plan of the next fiscal year for deciding the aim that met a basic policy of our financial management. This year, We established the new page about the CSR activity of the group company.
We recognize that contents are not enough including a concrete numerical mention.
In future, we will have the opportunities to communicate with various stakeholders and to share the results on demand.
We deeply welcome your thoughts and opinions upon reading it and viewing our CSR Website. Your input is extremely helping us to make our CSR efforts valuable.
