Through our main business of the supplying of IT services, Hitachi Information Systems has expanded into a business that contributes to the promotion of corporate social responsibility via our responsiveness to the Japanese version of the SOX act, the rapid restoration of information systems when damaged, and our contributions to cities hand in hand with local governments and residents.
The fisical year 2005 marked the beginning of a variety of activities in keeping with our aim of becoming a socially responsible corporation.
Main Activities During 2005
Hitachi Information Systems undertook a broad range of CSR efforts to satisfy the varied opinions and desires of our stakeholders. Here we will report the results of our 2005 activities.
Implementation of Internal Control Solutions, Beginning With our Response to the Japanese SOX Act
Taking advantage of our lead in implementing a response to the American SOX Act domestically in Japan, in January of 2006 we implemented an “Internal Control Solution” so as to build and strengthen our corporation's internal control system.
Launch of “@Managehome DRS” : A System to Ensure Business Continuity During Disasters
In February 2006, we built and activated a back-up system capable of quickly restoring information systems in time of disaster.
Increasing the Effectiveness of Supporting the Physically Challenged : the “Welfare Forest Exceed Independence System”
In response to the April 2006 law to help the physically challenged become independent, we began offering specialized systems to social welfare agencies.
The CYPORTAL-GIS Map System : Supporting Municipal Disaster Readiness and Welfare Efforts
A digital map system that allows citizens to access a variety of information, promoting safety, education, and regional development.
Establishment of a CSR Division and IC Promotion Center
In an effort to improve our ongoing social responsibility promotion efforts, in April of 2005 Hitachi Information Systems established a CSR Division for the purpose of promoting and planning CSR-related activities in a manner integrated with our information security, environmental conservation, compliance, legal, and corporate communication.
Furthermore, an IC (internal control) Promotion Center was established in order to improve the effectiveness of our internal control system. This restructuring of our organization has had the effect of strengthening society's confidence in our company.
Reopening of the CSR Web Site
Our previous CSR site was re-launched in April of 2006. Re-designed with an eye towards comprehensiveness and speed, it provides the most up-to-date information about our CSR activities.
Opening of the Health Management Center
In July of 2005, we opened the Health Management Center in our Business Support Division. It is charged with dispensing information and thoroughly assisting employees in managing their health.
Establishment of the Senior Employee System
In keeping with revisions to the Senior Citizen Employment Stability Law, in April of 2006 we established the “Senior Employee System” in order to support the employment of highly skilled and motivated individuals who have passed retirement age.
Earth Photo Contest Sponsorship
Here we'll introduce the works of those awarded for outstanding achievement at Hitachi Information Systems' 2006 Earth Photo Contest. We are currently still accepting submissions on the theme of “bonds” for 2006.
Participation in Team Minus 6%
Hitachi Information Systems registered for “Team Minus 6%” in June of 2006. This approach to helping stop global warming is being introduced to all of our group's companies.
