Hitachi Information Systems' business is centered on safeguarding the important information that customers entrust in our care.
Each of our work areas handles many forms of information, including documents, computer-based lists, magnetic tapes, data discs, and confidential customer information stored on computers. Accidents with regards to this data -- such as leakage outside of the company due to inattentive handling or disposal, loss due to physical damage of equipment or media, or fire damage -- cause incalculable trouble for the customer and are disastrous for our company as well.
In order to wholly prevent these sorts of accidents, we began implementing across-the-board safety measures throughout the company in October of 1987. Starting in December of 1990, we began a series of company-wide activities to firmly establish and further expand these efforts.
These comprehensive efforts were undertaken in light of Hitachi Information Systems' position as a custodian of our customers' important data. We see safety, hygiene, fire prevention, disaster readiness, information security, and environmental conservation, as all being facets of the same issue.Normally, these are treated as separate issues, but we recognize their inter-dependence and approach them with a singular philosophy that allows us to comprehensively and thoroughly eliminate the potential for accident or disaster.
The merit of this approach is that it isn't limited to our company, but is applicable to and effective for any enterprise. We want to offer our know-how not only in the form of business solutions, but to society at large.
